What is a Man?

The Path of Humanity is a measure of how closely a vampire clings to the morality and values of mortal life, and consequently how well they are able to resist the urges of the Beast.

There are many ways a Vampire will attempt to combat their Beast. Maintaining a connection to that which once made them human in the form of Humanity is the most common, but others adopt a far more alien mindset - shifting their code of ethics and morals to what is known as a Path of Enlightenment.

Mechanics

The mechanics regarding Humanity and Enlightenment are currently rather rudimentary in-game.

  • You can check your level of Humanity or Enlightenment with the About Me button. Characters only use one or the other.
  • Performing CPR or Defibrillating a mortal will grant you Humanity, while subtracting Enlightenment.
  • Using the Dancer Quirk, you can dance near a playing Jukebox to increase your Humanity.
  • Stealing objects from mortals will subtract your Humanity.
  • Selling drugs will subtract from your Humanity.
  • Killing mortals will subtract your Humanity, while increasing your Enlightenment.
  • Not being well fed will occasionally cause a Frenzy check, which subtracts from your Enlightenment.
  • You can also directly buy Humanity or Enlightenment with Experience.
  • The lower your Humanity or Enlightenment rating, the longer it will take for you to awaken from Torpor.
  • If either your Humanity or Enlightenment fall to 0, your character will Wassail.
