Clan is a term used by vampires to describe the major groups of Cainites who share common characteristics passed on by the blood. There are 13 known clans, each of which was reputedly founded by an Antediluvian, a member of the mythical Third Generation.
Many of these clans also contain distinct Bloodlines, offshoots of the main clan with lineages that have some inherent distinction from the thirteen traditional clans, be it in their weaknesses, Disciplines, or both. Many of these bloodlines are, in effect, a clan within a clan.
Clan | Description |
---|---|
Baali | Emerging from an ancient struggle between dark and light, the Devils follow primordial evil older than Satan himself. |
Banu Haqim | The children of Haqim, self-appointed judges of other Cainites. |
Brujah | Fervid and physically inclined, the passion of the Rabble often drives them to frenzy. |
Caitiff | The orphaned, weak, and mistakes amongst Cainites. These clanless are shunned by most for their lack of pedigree or ignorance. |
Cappadocian | A presumed-to-be-extinct Clan of necromancers, the Graverobbers studied death specifically in the physical world. Following the destruction of their Clan and Founder the remnants of the Clan have become extremely scattered and disorganized. |
Daughters of Cacophony | A rare bloodline from widely contested lines, the Daughters pursue music in all its forms under the guidance of a mysterious "Fugue" song perpetually playing in each of their minds. |
Gangrel | Thrusting aside the false secrurity of civilization, the Outlanders are the wolves among Cainites. |
Gargoyle | Originally created through an abominable Tremere ritual to create new servants, the Gargoyles have since revolted from their masters and live free. |
Giovanni | The Necromancers are one of the youngest clans, originally usurping Clan Cappadocian and hunting them to near-extinction. Their family manipulates vast amounts of wealth while maintaining a level of independence from the Camarilla. |
Kiasyd | A merging of Cainite and faetouched, the Weirdlings can survive by making themselves useful to other Cainites. |
Lasombra | A powerful and diverse clan, differences in religion and culture both builds and threatens the Keepers. |
Malkavian | Touched by madness, the Lunatics still realize there is a method behind it. |
Ministry | Hailing from the Egytian deity Set, not the once mortal Caine, the Serpents' state is a part of the worship of evil and chaos. |
Nosferatu | Forever warped by the vanity of their foundry, the secrets the Sewer Rats seek are their comfort in the dark. |
Old Clan Tzimisce | Old lords hailing from the Transyvlanian mountains, the Dragons practice a form of koldunic sorcery that lets them become the land itself. |
Salubri | An ancient, dying line hailing from an ancient, dead founder. The Healers turn their gaze towards an uncertain future. |
Toreador | Enthusiastic patrons of arts they can never be a part of, the Degenerates desire to cling to things of beauty often brings the crush of death. |
Tremere | Known as the Warlocks, this mystical clan of wizards usurped the powers of immortality and now commands a fearsomely exclusive brand of blood magic. |
True Brujah | A line long thought destroyed ,these few seek to turn back time on their lost clan. |
Tzimisce | Fleshcrafting masters of all that is flesh and bone, the Fiends craft powerful war beasts and intricate works of art. |
Ventrue | As the eldest clan (by their reckoning), the Blue Bloods see themselves as the elder siblings of the other Cainites and seek to exercise the power and authority that comes with this position. |
