Before it was nothing more than a mere colony founded by Spanish settlers, before prospective gold miners or, indeed, those that followed them saw to turn it into a port from which the weary may take shelter from the harsh climates of the west, there arrived one from the East.
They came from the Carpathians. Down from the mountains they travelled, across the vast plains of Cathay they passed, and upon the seas they had sailed. They who were of [Tzimisce]'s blood, they who would go far, far, far across the seas, until they would land upon the shores of the New World.
They treated with the peoples of the land. Humbling themselves before the ancient masters of the land, they begged and they begged, until in their magnamnity they would give them a small piece of their land.
In respect and to honor the memories of those that would soon find themselves chased from their very homes, the one from the Carpathians, the Voivode-in-Waiting, has ever held onto their ancestral land. Though others might mock it as nothing more than a plot of land in San Francisco, to those that would honor the past, to those that would pay their respects to the long-dead, it is nothing less than a token of true hospitality — to give to the traveller from a land faraway a place to call home.
To that end, the Voivode-in-Waiting continues to keep this piece of San Francisco for themselves. Though they themselves rest in torpor elsewhere, their Childer call it home. With the Head of the House honored with the title of Voivode, and the small court they have gathered themselves honored with the title of Kin — of Family.
Though technically no treaty or formal writing exists, the Manor of the Voivode has enjoyed an unofficial position of begrudging respect. The Camarilla has never found any real reason to cause trouble; the Sabbat have no desire to seek conflict with the Old Clan. As for the Anarchs, the wise find it prudent not to find undue troubles.
